TEF Canada — Test d'Évaluation de Français
The TEF Canada is one of two French language tests accepted by IRCC for immigration purposes. It evaluates your ability in Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, Written Expression, and Oral Expression. Your results are mapped to the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) levels, which directly translate to CLB equivalencies used in the immigration points system.
TCF Canada — Test de Connaissance du Français
The TCF Canada is the second IRCC-approved French language test for immigration. It offers a streamlined format and is widely accepted for federal immigration programs. Like the TEF Canada, it assesses all four language skills and scores are converted to NCLC levels for immigration purposes. It is also commonly used for Quebec immigration streams and post-secondary admissions in Quebec.
