Express Entry Overview

Express Entry Canada
is a selection system.

Express Entry Canada is the online system Canada uses to manage applications for several skilled worker permanent residence programs.

Candidates create a profile and are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System, commonly known as CRS. Your score is based on factors such as age, education, language ability, work experience, Canadian experience, and other additional factors.

At Hakam Immigration Services, we help candidates understand whether Express Entry is realistic, how to improve their profile, and whether another strategy such as a Provincial Nominee Program should be considered.

You can also review official Express Entry information through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

CRS strategy

Your score is not just
a number.

The Comprehensive Ranking System determines how competitive your Express Entry profile is. A good strategy looks beyond the current score and identifies realistic ways to improve your ranking or create alternative pathways.

Language

IELTS / CELPIP / TEF Strategy

Language results can heavily affect CRS. Higher scores may open stronger pathways or category-based opportunities.

Education

Credential Assessment

Foreign education usually needs proper credential assessment before it can support an Express Entry profile.

Experience

Work History Review

Work experience must be classified correctly and supported with credible documents and duties.

Canadian Path

Study or Work Strategy

Some candidates improve long-term competitiveness by gaining Canadian education or skilled work experience.

Province

PNP Options

A provincial pathway may be more realistic than waiting for a high CRS score.

Risk

Profile Accuracy

Incorrect work codes, dates, education details, or unsupported claims can create serious risk later.

How Express Entry works

From profile
to invitation.

1

Confirm eligibility

Before creating a profile, confirm which Express Entry program you may qualify under and whether the evidence supports your claim.

2

Calculate and review CRS

Your CRS score should be reviewed carefully, including possible improvements and alternative PR options.

3

Create or optimize the profile

The profile should reflect accurate education, language, work history, family details, and immigration facts.

4

Wait for an invitation or pursue alternatives

If the score is not competitive, a PNP, study, work, or other pathway may be part of the broader strategy.

5

Submit the PR application after invitation

After receiving an invitation, the full permanent residence application requires careful document preparation and consistency.

Common questions

Express Entry
answered.

Is Express Entry a visa?
No. Express Entry is an online system used to manage applications for certain permanent residence programs.
Do I need a job offer for Express Entry?
Not always. Some candidates may qualify without a job offer, although a valid job offer may help in certain situations.
What is CRS?
CRS stands for Comprehensive Ranking System. It ranks candidates based on factors such as age, education, language ability, work experience, Canadian experience, and additional factors.
What if my CRS score is too low?
A low CRS score does not necessarily mean the end of the road. You may need a PNP strategy, stronger language results, Canadian experience, education planning, or another immigration pathway.
Can I apply from outside Canada?
Yes. Some Express Entry pathways may be available to candidates outside Canada if they meet eligibility requirements and have a competitive profile.
Which consultation should I book?
For Express Entry, CEC, FSW, FST, PNP comparison, or PR profile review, book the PR Application Review.
