Permanent
Residence
Canada offers multiple pathways to permanent residence. Whether you are a skilled worker, a graduate, a family member, or someone with a complex situation, the right strategy starts with choosing the correct pathway.
What is Permanent Residence?
The right to live, work,
and stay for good.
Permanent residence gives you the right to live, work, and study anywhere in Canada without being tied to a specific employer, school, permit, or expiry date. It is the foundation for long-term stability in Canada and a major step toward Canadian citizenship.
Canada's immigration system offers several distinct pathways to permanent residence. Each pathway has its own eligibility criteria, risks, evidence requirements, and processing considerations.
At Hakam Immigration Services, we help you identify the strongest available pathway for your profile and avoid wasting time on a weak or unsuitable application strategy.
PR Pathways
Every route to
permanent residence.
Express Entry
Express Entry is Canada's main system for skilled worker immigration. It manages Federal Skilled Worker, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades applications using a points-based Comprehensive Ranking System.
For internationally trained professionals with skilled foreign work experience.
For workers and graduates in Canada with skilled Canadian work experience.
Provincial Nominee Programs
Provincial Nominee Programs allow provinces and territories to nominate candidates based on local labour market needs. PNPs can be especially useful for applicants with lower CRS scores or province-specific opportunities.
A provincial nomination can add 600 CRS points to an Express Entry profile.
Province-specific streams for skilled workers, graduates, and selected occupations.
Family Sponsorship
Canadian citizens and permanent residents may sponsor eligible family members for permanent residence, including spouses, partners, dependent children, parents, and grandparents.
Inland or outland sponsorship for a spouse, common-law partner, or eligible partner.
Family reunification options including PGP, dependent children, and Super Visa planning.
Humanitarian & Compassionate
H&C applications may be considered where a person does not qualify under standard programs but has compelling humanitarian factors, establishment in Canada, hardship, or the best interests of a child involved.
People with strong ties to Canada or exceptional circumstances who do not fit standard categories.
H&C applications require detailed evidence, persuasive submissions, and careful case framing.
